Pop band Ben&Ben holds special online event to raise Covid-19 relief funds

Due to the ongoing enhanced community quarantine, music fans may not be able to enjoy live concert performances of their favorite singers and bands, but there is a way to get through for the moment—through live YouTube events. Pop band Ben&Ben is among those music performers who are getting into this.

The nine-piece band is set to host a special live event over its YouTube channel on April 18, 2020 (Saturday) at exactly 7:00 p.m. Each member of Ben&Ben will connect from their respective homes to stream the collective performance in their unique signature 3 X 3 format.

This music initiative is aimed at raising funds to be donated to Covid-19 response efforts in the country. The band intends to use the proceeds to provide additional personal protection equipment (PPEs) and nutrition support for the mighty healthcare front-liners as well as to help purchase Covid-19 testing kits and relief goods for daily-wage earners, who may not have the means for livelihood due to the lockdown.

Collab with YouTube

“YouTube is proud to collaborate with Sony (Music) to enable Ben&Ben’s live streaming event which aims to create donation drive for Covid-19 response efforts,” said Google Philippines Country Director Bernadette Nacario. “It is uplifting to see the power of music and Filipinos’ spirit of bayanihan coming together to lend a helping hand during this increasingly challenging time. We hope that Ben&Ben’s event does not just help raise funds but inspire Filipinos to get through difficult moments through music.”

Ben&Ben has prepared an interesting ensemble for the special YouTube performance. It is set to perform its newest single entitled ‘Doors,’ fresh from its April 16 release date. The band will also perform the hits from its certified Platinum and best-selling debut album in 2019, Limasawa Street.

Growing music community

“We cannot wait to play our songs for all of you this Saturday,” Ben&Ben said through a release. “We’ll look forward to connecting with all of you at our show on YouTube, one of the platforms that helped us build the vibrant Ben&Ben community that we have right now.”

Ben&Ben comprises of brothers Paolo and Miguel Benjamin on acoustic guitars and vocals, respectively; Poch Barretto on electric guitar; Jam Villanueva on drums; Agnes Reoma on bass; Patricia Lasaten on keyboards; Toni Munoz and Andrew de Pano on percussions; and Keifer Cabugao on violin. The band combines folk and indie music with pop sensibilities, redefining the mainstream music lane with a sound that connects the music traditions of the past and the present.

The online performance will continue to be accessible on YouTube after the live stream.
