Business magnate, philanthropist, and Microsoft Corp. founder Bill Gates is once again the world’s most admired man, while Hollywood actress and humanitarian advocate Angelina Jolie is the most admired woman in 2018. The two icons topped YouGov’s annual list of public figures who are being looked up across the planet.
Gates has always been enjoying the top spot ever since the survey started. Meanwhile, Jolie has dominated the list for women since 2015 when the categories for men and women were separated.
Following Gates and Jolie in their respective lists are former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, former first lady Michelle. Barack also took the second spot in 2017, while Michelle leaped three spots to land in the second position this year. Interestingly, U.S. President Donald Trump is far behind at No. 17, up from No. 18 last year.
Hollywood star Jackie Chan and ‘Queen of Talk’ Oprah Winfrey secure the third spots in both lists, while Chinese politician Xi Jinping and the U.K.’s Queen Elizabeth II are trailing behind at fourth spots for the men and women categories, respectively.
Here’s the complete list of the 20 most admired people in the world for both categories:
The World’s Most Admired 2018 expanded its coverage to 35 nations worldwide (including the Philippines)—the most ever. YouGov, an international online-based market research and data analytics company, polled over 37,000 respondents for this compilation.
