How would you like the possibility of charging your car almost just like charging your smartphone daily? That may not be a remote possibility anymore.
With the enactment of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), electric vehicles will soon be more common. One of the keys to this initiative’s success is the growth of the network for EV charging stations across the metro and nationwide.
During the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, Tech and Lifestyle Journal came across BTC Power, an established manufacturer of EV charging systems in the U.S. and North America. The company currently operates a manufacturing site in Cebu and is considering the prospects of supplying charging systems to businesses in the Philippines.
“BTC Power is not yet supplying to the Philippines but we are slowly exposing the brand to potential vendors in the country,” said BTC power VP for Asian Operations Jeannie Yoo.
“We are a hardware developer and manufacturer. BTC Power is not here to operate,” she explained. Yoo clarified that the company is not into selling energy; instead, it is here to sell hardware (charging systems and equipment) to potential local customers. BTC Power will sell hardware, install, do after-service, and offer maintenance assistance.
For entrepreneurs and businesses that intend to put up EV charging stations, BTC Power offers products that range from standard to super-fast chargers. All of the brand’s EV chargers are equipped with payment systems that conveniently facilitate payments via credit cards or RFID.
Moreover, BTC Power also carries non-enterprise EV charging systems. “We have chargers for residential applications. These will enable you to come home at night, charge your car, and use it again fully charged in the morning,” Yoo said.
For residential uses, BTC Power has EV chargers that cost about ₱40,000 to ₱60,000. For enterprises, chargers are priced at a little premium but are designed to facilitate businesses. Standard EV chargers range from 47kWh to 150kWh capacity and can charge from zero to 100% for about 4 hours to as fast as just 15 minutes (super-fast charging).
