Discovery, Inc. has announced the launch of its new streaming service dubbed discovery+ in the Philippines in October 2021. discovery+ is set to offer an inspiring pipeline of premium-grade real-life storytelling across key passion genres—from food to relationships, true crime and home, nature, paranormal, Korean reality, and lifestyle.
The new service will facilitate online access to an extensive library of shows from the company’s most loved brands like Discovery Channel, TLC, Investigation Discovery, HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel, Magnolia Network, Asian Food Network, and Animal Planet. Also included are top non-fiction library content from History Channel and BBC’s biggest natural history offering.
On its PH launch, discovery+ will be home to over 45 unmissable discovery+ Original titles with over 200 episodes of exclusive content. These include 90 Day Journey, a curated series featuring the ultimate collection of stories focused on fan-favorable couples. Also on the list are the all-new 90 Day Fiancé tentpole series and additional titles like 90 Day: The Single Life.

Other original shows to be available upon the launch include Ghost Adventures: Top 10, Say Yes to the Dress: In Sickness and In Health, and Buddy Vs Duff. There will also be additional 100+ new original titles to be added to the service by the end of 2021.
discovery+ will also be home to many iconic TV personalities like Guy Fieri (Diners, Drive-ins and Dives), Drew and Jonathan Scott (Property Brothers), Martha Stewart (Bakeaway Camp with Martha Stewart), Dr. Sandra Lee (Dr. Pimple Popper), and Buddy Valastro (Cake Boss).
On the other hand, some of the best titles in real-life entertainment will be featured like 90 Day Fiancé, Naked & Afraid, Ghost Adventures, and Framing Britney Spears.
First-time content availability
For the first time, local viewers can also watch top shows from true crime channel like Investigation Discovery, Evil Lives Here, and Signs of a Psychopath. Also, streaming are exclusive content from Magnolia Network, a multiplatform joint venture with Chip and Joanna Gaines.
Award-winning premium natural history series from BBC to be streamed on the service include Planet Earth and Life. From History Channel, non-fiction content to be featured includes Crime Investigation Asia, Mountain Men, and Hidden Cities.
Partnership with Globe
In preparation for the discovery+ launch, Discovery has also teamed up with Globe to give select customers of the telecom firm first dibs on the new streaming service. Available from Globe is exclusive yearlong web access and offers that started on September 2. The two will also roll out high-profile marketing campaigns and promotional activities on their respective platforms.
Globe customers on select plans can enjoy exclusive access to discovery+ web version. For a limited period, Globe Postpaid and Platinum GPlan subscribers can exclusively buy and enjoy a 1-year access to discovery+ for just ₱99.
At the same time, Globe At Home customers who buy a Globe Streamwatch 2-in-1 Entertainment Box will be eligible for a 12-month access to discovery+ at no added cost. Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi customers who top up HomeSURF99 or HomeSURF1499 exclusively through the Globe At Home app can also subscribe to the 1-year access (can be claimed once per user).
