Three Filipino acts are surely advancing to the next round of competition for the current season of the X Factor UK, which is now on its third week of airing.
On Week 2 aired on September 11, boy group JBK got the elusive ‘yes’ of all four judges—Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, and Simon Cowell—after performing a cover of Sam Smith’s ‘Lay Me Down.’
“You’re making the Filipino so proud now,” Scherzinger told the group—composed of Joshua Bulot, Bryan del Rosario, and KIM Lawrenz Ordonio. The trio is based in the Philippines and flew to the UK just the day before the audition.
During the same episode another Filipino act made it to the next round. Elysa V flew in straight from Sydney, Australia also the day before the audition. The 18-year-old performer sang Fleur East’s ‘Sax.’
In the first week of the show, 40-year old Gaga Lord made it to the cut after impressing all four judges by her rendition of Shirley Bassey’s ‘Diamonds Are Forever‘ (James Bond theme). Lord is currently based in the UK, where she works at a primary school as a dinner lady.
