Jobstreet identifies universities where most employers’ new hires come from

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has again topped the overall list of universities that most employers in the country hire fresh graduates from. The state-funded university first dominated this list in 2016, during the third year of Jobstreet.com Philippines’ annual Fresh Graduate Survey. In 2017, it ranked second, next to the University of the Philippines (UP) System.

When most of those employers were asked why they hire fresh graduates from PUP, their responses could be summed into three: 1) most applications to job posts were from the school; 2) they believe in the school’s reputation in producing quality graduates; and 3) they acknowledge the positive attitude and work ethic of employees and applicants from the school.

Employers who hire fresh graduates from the UP System attribute their decision mainly to their confidence in the university’s reputation in producing quality graduates. They also think that the Iskolar ng Bayan have outstanding profiles and resumes (aside from performing best in pre-employment exams and interviews) and noted that they associate those graduates with positive attitude and work ethic.

Ateneo de Manila University placed No. 3 on this year’s list. Employers gave these reasons for hiring fresh graduates from the Catholic school: 1) they believe in its reputation for producing quality graduates; 2) they commend positive attitude and work ethic of employees and applicants from the school; and 3) their management prefer graduates from the university.

The following is the complete list of the top 10 universities (for 2018) where most of the fresh graduates employed via the website came from. For the first time, two universities from Cebu made it to this roster:
