OPPO donates F5 Youth units to help spread innovative health solutions

OPPO recognizes the power of the youth and how they can help transform communities into better ones. That is why as its initial corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative for 2018, the international smartphone brand has teamed up with Unilab Foundation to provide technological support to the latter’s Ideas Positive project.

Ideas Positive is a premier youth engagement program aimed at building a healthier Philippines. Now on its eighth year, the initiative holds a nationwide competition where qualified youth teams are tasked to develop innovative solutions to address particular health issues within the community level.

This year, 17 teams have been shortlisted out of hundreds to participate in a three-day boot camp. There, all team members will be taught the basics of leadership, project management, and communication. Each of the 17 teams will receive a seed fund amounting to about P100,000 for project implementation in their communities.

OPPO’s backing
As a form of support to Ideas Positive, OPPO has donated OPPO F5 Youth smartphones to all 17 youth teams during the recent boot camp held at Camp Allen in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The devices are intended to be used by the participants in documenting their efforts and sharing their journey through capturing the best moments as well as experiences as they implement and introduce their health innovations to their target communities. The teams are set to use the social media in disseminating information to communities.

“We are grateful that OPPO partnered with Ideas Positive,” said Ideas Positive Project Lead Alfred Dicto. “For the past years, majority of our participants use their own mobile phones in documenting their projects. However, not all of them own good quality smartphones that can take quality photos and videos. OPPO’s support this year is a big help to the youth teams in documenting their project implementation.”

Empowering youth
OPPO Philippines PR Manager Eason de Guzman expressed the company’s gladness to support and empower the Filipino youth. “OPPO believes that the youth plays a huge role in nation-building,” he said. “We have seen how enthusiastic and passionate the participants are in helping the communities. We hope that with OPPO’s support, the teams will be able to capture their best moments and share their wonderful stories and experiences with their communities.”

Ideas Positive will pick the best teams in August 2018. Youth teams with the best health outcomes will be awarded with smartphones from OPPO and cash prizes.
