The most anticipated and comprehensive annual trade show for packaging, printing, and plastics in the country and Southeast Asia is celebrating its 30th year through the 2024 edition of the PackPrintPlas Philippines, happening from October 10 to 12 at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City.
PackPrintPlas Philippines 2024 has the credential of being the only one of its kind, gathering leading cross-industry brands, innovators, and decision-makers in a three-day trade show. This year, it is staging a bigger exhibition that is set to surpass its success in 2023, when it showcased more than 400 exhibitors and companies for an estimated overall crowd of over 10,000 people and trade buyers, not just from across the country but also from the region. With the support of the Ayala Foundation, Inc., it is enhancing the trade show experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.
“There’s so much to see this year,” said Patrick-Lawrence Tan, CEO of Global-Link MP Events International Inc (GLMP), a local events and marketing unit of Singapore’s MP International Pte Ltd (part of the global brand activation agency Pico Group) and the main organizer of the yearly PackPrintPlas.
“We’re thrilled to host several international pavilions alongside our trusted suppliers who have supported us for years, including Big Pix, Copylandia, Norde, HP, JG Summit Olefins Corp, Gakken Philippines, Ideal Marketing, Greatwall Machinery, and many more,” he added.
Packaging and printing are crucial components of almost all manufacturing businesses and operations in the country. It is estimated that by the end of 2024, the local packaging industry would produce 69 billion units, with a robust 3.3% annual growth rate.
“PackPrintPlas Philippines plays a pivotal role in supporting the continued growth of important sectors of the economy. At the same time, it fosters local talent and empower businesses to compete both locally and internationally,” said Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Dusseldorf Asia (MDA), a Singapore-based subsidiary of Messe Duesseldorf GmbH (among the most successful trade fair organizers globally) and GLMP’s co-organizer of PackPrintPlas since 2019.
“This exhibition showcases not only the unique strengths of each sector but also the powerful synergies that emerge when packaging, printing, and plastics industries come together,” Ringling continued.
PackPrintPlas 2024 is serving as a venue for industry giants to showcase their latest innovations that are tailored to meet demands of different manufacturers. Product launches are set, from full-color printing machines and smart packaging solutions to high-performance plastics, bioplastics, and advanced recycling technology.
“For our part, we are focused on showcasing the recyclability of plastics. PackPrintPlas Philippines 2024 has exhibitors that are specializing on recycling, processing of recycled materials and residues, and more,” said Benjamin Chua, President of the Philippine Plastics Industry Association, Inc. (PPIA).
PackPrintPlas Philippines 2024 is also facilitating side-conferences and workshops that provide valuable insights about packaging, labeling, printing, plastics, and manufacturing. These are facilitated in the assigned function rooms at the second floor of SMX.
The opening ceremony on October 10 was graced by leaders from the packaging, printing, and plastics industries in the country—including Dr. Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr, President of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc (PhilExport); Dr. Virgilio Robledo, President of the Packaging Institute of the Philippines (PIP); John Co, President of the Philippine Center for Print Excellence Foundation (PCPEF); and Cecilio Pedro, President of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.
