One of the most successful mobile gaming apps has just turned 1 year old. Pokémon Go is still very much around and is continuously rolling out strategies to maintain players’ interest. In fact, more than 125 billion Pokémon creatures have already been caught globally since its launch in 2016.
Niantic, the popular game’s developer, has announced a special treat for Pokémon fans—this month, Pikachu will don Ash’s hat. Yes, if you hunt for Pokémons and get lucky enough to find and catch Pikachu, you would be delighted to find the lovable creature with the head accessory. That’s surely something to earn bragging rights for collectors and Pokémon Go players.
The special hat would be the one Ash wore in the Pokémon TV series’ first season. As a backgrounder, Pikachu was the first Pokémon that Ash, the main human character in the anime, caught. Pikachu has also served as Pokémon’s main image throughout the years.
As a bonus, players can also buy a limited virtual anniversary box that contains incubators, ultra balls, max revives, and raid passes, all at a marked down price.
Pokémon Go was launched in the Philippines on August 6, 2017, and has been instrumental in bolstering public interest in mobile gaming apps. The latest version can still be downloaded for free on Apple Store and Google Play.
