Milestones throughout the years
Pru Life UK was among the first companies allowed by the Insurance Commission to issue dollar-denominated policies when the insurer started in 1996. In 1998, it already ranked among the top 10 life insurance firms in the country in terms of First-Year Premiums. In 2001, it emerged as the fastest-growing life insurer in the Philippines with an impressive 63% growth rate.
The company pioneered the country’s first unit-linked or investment-linked life insurance product in 2002. Five years after, it reported hitting the ₱1 billion mark in terms of annualized premium equivalent, a 130% growth from 2006.
The Cha-Ching Financial Literacy for the Youth Program was launched in 2012 to expand the brand’s reach among children. It was quickly followed by the launch of the Prudence Foundation, the community investment unit of Prudential plc in Asia and Africa. The same decade witnessed the rollout of more innovations: the customer portal PRUAccess, the PRULink Global Emerging Markets fund, the PRULink Cash Flow fund, and the best-selling PRULink Elite Protector 5.
Pru Life UK launched its PRURide PH in 2016 to promote cycling for achieving health and wellness and as a sustainable alternative mode of transportation. In 2019, the program got a 2.2-accreditation from the Union Cycliste Internationale, the world’s governing body for cycling. The same year, the subsidiary Pru Life UK Investments was opened.
2021 opened with the introduction of PREDengue products on Pulse. More protection and health products will be launched this year.
