Sitel Philippines has joined fellow members of the Contact Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP) in supporting a fundraising initiative of Caritas Manila. This joint fundraiser gathered a number of business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in generating funds for Covid-19 relief efforts in Manila.
The campaign—dubbed as ‘Protect the Poor from Covid-19’—raised P4.3 million in donations. It provided relief goods to more than 1,600 underprivileged families, which are part of the urban poor.
“We discovered Caritas Manila’s program early in the enhanced community quarantine,” said CCAP Operations Director Jay Santisteban. “So we put out the call to our member companies and asked them to join us in raising funds. They responded immediately, coming together during the height of the pandemic when they also had their hands full with their own operations and workforce.”
‘Protect the Poor from Covid-19’ used the proceeds of the fundraising to make two kits for the beneficiaries. The first kit was a Caritas Manila kit filled with essential food products, while the second was the Caritas Ligtas kit comprising of pandemic safety essentials like alcohol, disinfectants, face masks, and vitamin supplements.
Sitel Philippines Chief People Officer Haidee Enriquez said the company was happy to join this effort of helping families that needed this support the most. “Efforts like these showcase the power of the collective and give BPO companies in the Philippines the chance to give back to the people and the communities in which we live and work.”
