The Sony World Photography Awards 2022 is officially on! The 15th edition of the global photography competition has started accepting entries from photographers with the following deadlines for four different categories:
Professional: January 14, 2022
Open: January 7, 2022
Student: November 30, 2021
Youth: Monthly competitions with changing themes until December 31, 2021
Professional category will have outstanding bodies of work of about 5 to 10 images across 10 categories. Open category rewards the best single images across 10 categories. Youth category has a monthly brief for emerging talent for those aged 12 to 19 years, while the Student category is for current students.
Additionally, the National Awards program rewards local photographic talent (per country).
Each of the category winners (Professional, Open, Student, and Youth competitions) will receive a Sony digital imaging equipment. The Photographer of the Year will receive a cash prize worth $25,000, while the Open Photographer of the Year will bring home $5,000.
All shortlisted and winning photographers’ works will be showcased at the annual Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition in London. Those will also be toured internationally. The winning photos will also be published in the yearly Awards’ book.
The Sony World Photography Awards was created by the World Photography Organization to become an authoritative voice within the industry. It is designed to celebrate the best contemporary photography and to provide vast exposure and opportunity to photographers from across the globe. Sony has been supporting the Awards to help in the continuous development of photographic culture by giving a global platform for today’s talent.
