Sykes Philippines mounts biggest year-end event in its 20-year history

Sykes Philippines' year-end event for 2017 was star-studded and was filled with huge raffle prizes but the company made sure the focus of the celebration would still be its employees, who all had fun participating in group dance competitions and raffles.

The first multinational call center company in the Philippines has recently staged its biggest year-end celebration in all of its 20-year history. Sykes Philippines’ Hollywood-inspired event dubbed as ‘Limelight’ was mounted in two venues—one was at SMX Convention Center for the firm’s over 6,000 employees from Manila (from sites in Shaw, Makati, Quezon City, and Alabang) and other leg was at Waterfront Hotel Cebu for about 3,000 employees in the province.

Both celebrations served as the culmination of the company’s grand holiday celebration. “Our employees are the main reason for our continued success,” said Sykes Senior Vice President of Regional Operations (APAC) Mike Henderson. “This year-end celebration is dedicated to all of ‘Sykesers,’ whom we consider to be the main stars of the company.”

Radio DJs Sam YG and Joyce Pring served as emcees of the Manila event.

On its Manila leg, Sykes has made sure it would keep up with its annual tradition of facilitating a star-studded annual party. It invited several popular celebrities to provide entertainment during the event—including singer KZ Tandingan, DJ Tom Taus, dance group Manoeuvres Ignite, actress-comedienne Valeen Montenegro, rock icon Bamboo, and Eraserheads lead vocalist Ely Buendia. The event was emceed by popular radio DJ-celebrities Joyce Pring and Sam YG.

Bamboo was among the high-profile performers who graced the occasion.

For its 2017 year-ender, Sykes gave away a total of P4 million worth of raffle prizes. During the night, it gave away several units of 13-inch Apple Macbook, LG Q6, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, LG LEDT TV 43”-inch Full HD, and JBL Wireless Headphones to lucky raffle winners. At the same time, seven winners brought home P50,000 of cash prizes each, eight received P100,000, and one became P250,000 richer in the grand raffle.

About P4 million worth of prizes was given away during the celebration, mostly through raffles.

Adding to the excitement was the Group Dance Competition among employees from Manila and Cebu. To honor its outstanding and loyal employees, Sykes also gave away its Service Awards. Employee organizations were also given awards—Sykes Outdoor Club bagged Sykes Choices Club 2017 Award for Manila, while Sykes Volleyball Club was handed the Sykes Involve Club of the Year Award for Cebu.

“We want to recognize and honor the employees who had been with us all these years,” said Henderson. “They have seen the company’s growth over the past 20 years and they will always be part of the Sykes family.”
