Google Philippines has released its latest Year in Search, an annual list of the top trending searches in the country. In 2017, the list consists of topics that clearly show Filipino netizens’ passion for singing, beauty pageants, and Korean television shows.
The list of overall top trending searches for 2017 in the Philippines was topped by Despacito lyrics. The hit song by Luis Fonsi made headlines when it was launched in October and quickly reached more than 4 billion views on YouTube worldwide.
Not far behind was Versace on the Floor lyrics. The popular song from Bruno Mars was released as a single from his ‘24K Magic’ album. Here are the rest of the topics that made it to the Top 10 list.

“In a way, the Year in Search offers us a glimpse of what we liked as a people, what issues affected us, what sparked our interest, and everything in between that appealed to our emotions the past year,” said Gail Tan, Head of Communications and Public Affairs of Google Philippines.
Google Philippines also released a list of trending searches in the country in various categories. Filipinos in general searched for controversial global and national issues, popular Korean celebrities and TV shows, and hit Hollywood movies.
