As part of its annual tradition, the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) is again giving free rides to its commuters today, December 30. In a statement, MRT General Manager Rodolfo Garcia said the management issued this order at the request of the National Historical Commission. This is in line with the commemoration of the 121st death anniversary of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal.
The free rides are implemented in all of the rail system’s stations across EDSA. However, the free rides are only offered in designated hours in the morning (7 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and afternoon (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.).
To avail of the free ride, passengers still need to get single journey tickets from the tellers for free. All tickets issued before 7 p.m. will be free.
