PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and Chief Operating Officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr. commended the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) for successfully hosting the recently concluded 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in the country.
“The Philippines is now much closer to taking center stage in world volleyball. The PLDT Group is committed to supporting this momentum and the PNVF’s vision,” Pangilinan said.
Held from September 12 to 28, the international tournament ended with a thrilling final match that Italy won over Bulgaria to secure their second consecutive world title. Poland followed Bulgaria’s silver finish with a victory over Czechia for the bronze.
“The success of the tournament on our soil was truly a testament to what Philippine volleyball can achieve,” added Pangilinan. “We saw the world’s best right here on our shores, and our people showed up in droves to support them.”
While the on-court action was intense, the real victory was the immense support from the Philippine audiences who watched the matches live–further solidifying the country’s passion for the sport.
For his part, Jimenez also highlighted how this national spirit lays the foundation for the future growth of volleyball in the Philippines.
“The energy and dedication of the athletes, along with the Filipino crowd’s sheer heart and support, were palpable. This is truly a momentous event, especially as we cheered on our very own national team, Alas Pilipinas, in their first-ever win at the FIVB Men’s World Championship,” said Jimenez.
PLDT’s sister company, Cignal TV, also played a crucial role as the official broadcast partner of the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship. This comprehensive partnership, which combined PLDT’s high-speed fiber connectivity with Cignal’s broad broadcast reach, underscores the group’s commitment to showcasing and elevating the status of Philippine volleyball by making elite global sports accessible to every Filipino home.
“We are proud to be the connectivity partner that brought these global moments to millions of homes via the fastest fiber–ensuring every spike and every save was celebrated in real-time,” Jimenez continued.
“This successful hosting proves that the future of volleyball in the Philippines is nothing but bright and fast. We at PLDT remain committed to supporting the PNVF in all its endeavors, from developing grassroots talents to hosting more elite global competitions.”
