RCBC cited in Euromoney report on Asia’s best digital banks

Press Release

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) was featured in a new research report by Euromoney recognizing banks across Asia that are shaping the future of retail banking through digital innovation, financial inclusion, and customer-centric services.

In its report, Asia’s Best Digital Banks: The Future of Retail Banking, Euromoney highlighted RCBC’s digital initiatives across multiple areas, particularly its efforts to expand access to banking services, strengthen digital remittances, and improve fraud awareness and financial literacy.

The report highlighted RCBC’s DiskarTech app, available in Taglish and Cebuano, which offers features designed to lower barriers to entry, including no maintaining balance requirement, access to microinsurance, low-cost transfers, and the rollout of unsecured digital loans.

Euromoney also noted RCBC’s initiatives supporting overseas Filipinos, including schemes that allow nationals to open accounts while working abroad using their home country banking apps, as well as RCBC’s fully digital remittance flows, with funds routed directly into mobile applications such as DiskarTech. RCBC was further recognized for enabling overseas Filipino workers to open accounts via its mobile app while abroad using foreign mobile phone numbers, expanding access regardless of location.

RCBC President and Chief Executive Officer Reggie Cariaso said the recognition reflects the bank’s disciplined execution of its long-term digital strategy. “Our focus has always been on building resilient platforms that scale responsibly, support growth, and deliver consistent value to our customers.”

On cybersecurity and consumer protection, Euromoney pointed to RCBC’s use of social media and SMS campaigns to share fraud-prevention tips, underscoring the bank’s focus on informed customers and employees as critical lines of defense.

The report also lauded RCBC’s use of digital platforms as a tool for advancing financial inclusion, particularly in reaching unbanked and underserved segments through partnerships and public-sector collaboration. In this context, Euromoney said:

“Some incumbent banks in the Philippines are also taking a proactive approach to using digital banking for financial inclusion. RCBC’s DiskarTech app stands out. It has also worked to improve financial education and literacy alongside partners including government agencies, at the same time as assisting social-security disbursements and digitalizing national identity.”

The latest recognition adds to RCBC’s standing in global banking assessments. The bank is the first in Asia to secure six consecutive Euromoney digital banking wins from 2020 to 2025, reflecting sustained recognition for its digital platforms and inclusion-led initiatives.

“Being recognized in Euromoney’s research affirms our focus on practical, inclusive digital banking and solutions that respond to how Filipinos actually live and work, whether at home or overseas,” said Lito Villanueva, RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer. “Our priority has always been to make digital banking accessible, secure, and relevant.”

The report is based on Euromoney’s assessment of more than 300 retail banks globally as part of its annual research cycle. It assessed digital banks across Asia with a special focus on Southeast Asia, based on their successes and capabilities across paths to success, ecosystems and digital partnerships, customer experience excellence, and financial inclusion and well-being.
