Press Release
The Yuchengco Museum is turning 20, but it isn’t looking backward. Instead of celebrating past exhibits, the museum is using this major milestone to launch a completely fresh vision: to become an active engine for the Philippine creative sector. Starting today, the museum transforms into a living launchpad for homegrown talent, shifting its focus from a quiet hall into a dynamic space where the future of Filipino creativity is being made.
To drive this vision, the museum has developed an interconnected ecosystem across three distinct, reinvented platforms: the main museum galleries, a commercial retail floor (YShop), and a dedicated events venue (YSpace).

Yuchengco Museum: The creative stage
The Yuchengco Museum redefines its galleries to expand how our art, culture, and creativity are told. While remaining a proud home for fine art, the museum is opening its doors wider to dedicated exhibits on design, fashion, architecture, and digital media, among other creative disciplines.
Before visitors browse products or attend a creative showcase, the museum galleries provide the necessary historical context and artistic inspiration. By bridging rich Filipino heritage with today’s creative expressions, the museum helps audiences appreciate the deep cultural roots driving modern creative work.
YShop: A marketplace solving the sustainability gap
For many local designers, the steepest hurdle is economic survival. Talented creators frequently encounter a sustainability gap, where they produce exceptional work, but struggle to gain access to the retail space required to scale.

The YShop retail floor directly solves this problem. Strategically positioned in the heart of Makati’s central business district, YShop at the Yuchengco Museum provides independent Filipino brands with premium real estate without the prohibitive overhead costs of traditional commercial spaces. This marketplace allows creators to test market demand, optimize their production, and build a loyal customer base.
YSpace: A premier venue for creative experiences
YSpace at the Yuchengco Museum serves as a vibrant platform for public engagement and industry collaboration. It is a flexible event and exhibit venue for showcases, sensory experiences, and creative launches.
By bringing professionals from diverse creative industries together under one roof, YSpace provides a physical stage for partnerships, storytelling, and relationship building essential for economic growth.

The leadership vision
The Yuchengco Museum’s transformation stems from a deep understanding of how cultural spaces must evolve to contemporary economic realities. “A museum’s job is no longer just to preserve culture, but to actively fund and fuel the people making it today. We are moving away from being just a repository of art, objects, and history to becoming a living workshop where local designers can build sustainable careers,” shares Jeannie Javelosa, Director, Yuchengco Museum.
With these strategic changes, the Yuchengco Museum officially transitions from a space of quiet reflection to an active, daily resource for the local creative economy. This new direction will be anchored by an exhaustive lineup of upcoming exhibitions, creative showcases, and public programs over the coming months. Visitor Information
