The latest generation of PLDT HOME’s TVolution streaming box is surely one that will change the way modern Filipino homes access entertainment.
Earlier this month (June), the digital services provider finally launched the Roku PoweredTM TVolution in the Philippines. It is set to further revolutionize entertainment streaming in local households.
Filipinos are now the first in the entire Asian continent to stream entertainment through the Roku streaming platform, which is hugely popular in the U.S. PLDT Home’s fiber broadband connections (with speeds reaching up to 1 Gigabit per second) will enable Roku PoweredTM TVolution boxes to bring video entertainment right at consumers’ TV screens.
New milestone
The collaboration between PLDT and Roku Inc. was formally announced in April during the Asia Pacific Video Operators Summit held in Bali, Indonesia. Back then, it was promised that the new set-top box will bring about more than 50 streaming channels from various content services in the Philippines.

The all-in-one, plug-and-play set top box comes with a remote control that facilitates quick access buttons to these services:
Cignal TV – Pay TV service providing a combination of standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) channels, including audio and free-to-air broadcasts in the country.
iflix – The leader in subscription/streaming video on demand (SVoD) in the emerging markets. It features movies, TV shows, and documentaries from local and international content producers.
Netflix – The leading internet television network offers a variety of TV series, films, and Netflix original series.
YouTube – The biggest free streaming website gives access to a multitude of content ranging from music videos, movie trailers, and just about anything shared online by netizens and video producers.
Existing subscribers of PLDT HOME have the privilege to get Roku PoweredTM TVolution for an additional charge of just P199 per month (for 36 months) on top of their regular subscription fees. The package comes with the device kit, a trial of Cignal HD TV Plan 1590 (lasting for a specified period), and built-in iflix subscription. Netflix subscription would be bundled with a minimal additional fee.
PLDT HOME Fibr subscribers, on the other hand, can get the package without any cashout and delivery charge.
