Are you among the many Filipinos who sorely miss outdoor physical activities, particularly participating in fun-run events? You may very well prepare for a running event that will commemorate the 40th anniversary of ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.’
Registration is still open for the first-ever Star Wars Virtual Run until May 30, 2020 (Editor’s Note: This is extended until September 29, 2020). Through the social fitness app LIV3LY, runners can pledge alliance to either the Light or Dark Side of the Force, then fight in the most epic virtual run on a treadmill or any running path.
Update, as of April 30, 2020: Star Wars Virtual Run 2020 has been rescheduled to begin on June 15, 2020. Participants may clock-in their distances between June 15 and September 30, 2020.
Runners may go solo to complete the 5.4-kilometer run or go with a partner in the 40-kilometer (can be individual as well) run. The distances may be completed at once or over a period of time, from May 4 to May 31 for the eligibility for the Finisher Trophy. Finishers of the 40-kilometer distance will bag home an additional The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Trophy.
Download the LIV3LY app on the App Store or Google Play and use its MOVE feature to register. You have to activate the app’s MOVE Run Tracker so you can record your running distance during the specified period.
Limited-edition merchandise (including a Star Wars Pass Holder and a Mobile Pass Holder) can also be exclusively purchased through the app. Any purchased merchandise along with the Finisher Trophy (upon completion of the run and verification by LIV3LY) will be delivered to your registered address.
The Star Wars Virtual Run is open for runners not just in the Philippines but in other Southeast Asian countries—Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand.
