As an additional effort to support its bikers, who are temporarily banned from providing ride services amid the enhanced community quarantine implemented across Luzon, Angkas has launched its first food delivery service—Angkas Food.
The motorcycle ride-hailing service provider will not collect any commission in this initiative. Customers will also not need to use the Angkas app when purchasing food, as an Angkas biker will be assigned randomly to deliver an order from partner restaurants. Angkas Food service is available daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“Delivering food isn’t our expertise,” Angkas said in its social media page upon introducing Angkas Food. In its usually witty tone, the firm admitted that other food service delivery providers are much better than them, but the company is doing this to help its bikers temporarily until this crisis is over.
“Madaming mas magaling diyan. Nakiki-epal lang kami, pero gagawin namin ito para may pagkakitaan ng pera yung mga biker namin kahit pano, at sa kagustuhan din namin tumulong magdala ng mga pangangailangan ng ating komunidad na naka-quarantine. Pero wag kayo mag-alala, legit naman ito,” it said.
To use the service, you may call any of Angkas Food’s partner restaurants (see below) to place your order (no minimum limit stated). You may settle your purchase via cashless means or opt to pay in cash upon delivery. Leave your name, address, and contact details with the restaurant and meet the Angkas biker upon his/her arrival. A delivery fee (cash only—P60 per 3 kilometers plus P10 per additional kilometers, but limited to 5 kilometers only; the entire amount is given to the biker as earnings) will be collected on top of the purchase amount.
A no-touch interaction is strictly implemented. The biker will put the food items on the motorcycle seat or your doorstep and move back to a safe distance while the transaction is going on. Wearing of face mask and application of sanitation alcohol will also be observed.
