iflix is bringing another anticipated K-Drama to its subscribers in the Philippines. The leader in Subscription on Video on Demand (SVoD) service in emerging markets has secured rights to stream the TV show The Bride of Habaek just within 24 hours after each episode’s television broadcast in South Korea.
Initial streaming began on July 6. From then on, fresh episodes of the K-Drama will be streamed on iflix every Thursday and Friday.
The Bride of Habaek is based on the Bride of the Water God, a popular comic book series published in 2006 by author Yoon Mi-kyung. The TV adaptation is directed by Kim Byung Soo, featuring some of K-Drama’s sought-after stars: Nam Joo-Hyuk (star of Weightlifting Fairy), Shin Sae-Kyeong (Blade Man), Gong Myung (Beautiful You), and Krystal Jung (My Lovely Girl).
Fantasy love story
The fantasy drama depicts an unlikely romance between a supernatural water god and a human. Habaek descends to Earth for his human bride, who sacrifices herself for her village’s sake. The story is set in modern Seoul, giving it a more interesting and contemporary feel.
The TV series is the latest addition to iflix’s growing library of highly acclaimed and popular K-Drama series. The current roster includes Goblin, My Love from the Star, and Descendants of the Sun.
