One of World Vision’s important education projects is getting the funding it needs following the success of the advocacy organization’s recent online benefit concert.
Proceeds from ‘One Voice for Children’ Virtual Concert will fund an annual program that gives away necessary school kits, which will be most helpful during the current pandemic.
The inspirational online concert lasted for two hours on the night of August 29, 2020. It generated 23,000 views and over 2,500 engagements. It gathered P350,000 in donations. (You can still donate through World Vision’s website.)
The all-star online concert was top-billed by World Vision ambassadors Ogie Alcasid, Christian Bautista, Iñigo Pascual, Quest, Perkins Twins, and JJ Dolor. Hosted by Joyce Pring-Trivino, the one-night-only event was filled with messages of hope from other World Vision ambassadors and advocates like Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Bianca Umali, Tippy Dos Santos, Enzo Pineda, Marc Nelson, Janina Vela, and Gelli Victor. Regine Velasquez-Alcasid surprised everyone with a special performance as well.
“Amidst the pandemic, we are able to sing and enjoy each other’s company, even virtually,” said World Vision National Director Rommel Fuerte. “We are deeply grateful to all who supported this loud call to help the most vulnerable children. Let’s continue praying for our nation and the whole world.”
For World Vision ambassador Paolo Valenciano, producing and directing the concert was a fulfillment especially because it was very challenging staging the show amid the new normal. “Lots of trial and error and it really takes us out of our comfort zone. But knowing that this was for a great cause and that so many artists were willing to get involved made it very fulfilling. I hope this will not be the last,” he said.
