Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is teaming up with the Philippine Seven Corp. (7-Eleven) to power the latter’s Christmas Virtual Run for a Cause. Now in its eighth year, the annual run series is going online for the first time.
7-Eleven’s Christmas Virtual Run for a Cause continues the annual run series’ aim to promote health and goodwill despite the ongoing pandemic. More than 40,000 participants are completing their race distances from chosen locations—at home, on their treadmill, or in any regular jogging trail—from November 30 to December 12, 2020. The participants are logging their time on a designated website.
“We are very excited to be a part of 7-Eleven’s historic virtual run for a cause,” said PLDT-Smart National Key Accounts FVP and Head Precy P. Katigbak. “With everything going online because of the pandemic, our fastest LTE network will be able to serve the needs of our customers as they participate in this meaningful event.”
Aside from having a finisher kit and complimentary sponsors’ products, the run’s participants are also able to help a community this Christmas through voting for their chosen local government unit that will receive gift pack donations from the convenience store chain.
“This pandemic has indeed challenged us to think out of the box and look for ways to unite Filipinos for a cause,” said Philippine Seven Corp. General Merchandise Head Jose C. Ang. “Together with Smart, we hope to inspire more Filipinos to stay healthy and at the same time, celebrate the spirit of giving this season.”
