Cebu Pacific announces resumption of passenger flights amid GCQ

During the quarantine period, Cebu Pacific has kept operations of its all-cargo flights to facilitate the transport of food, medicines, and vital supplies across the country. Now, the airline and its regional brand Cebgo is announcing the resumption of its passenger flights on June 2, 2020. The announcement comes as Metro Manila and other provinces in the country transition into general community quarantine (GCQ) on June 1, 2020.

However, the company clarified that it will still have a limited number of flights for the time being. “We will continue to work with the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) as well as other national and local government authorities on the rules and requirements to resume commercial passenger flights between areas under GCQ,” it said on its announcement.

Take note that all international flights are still suspended from June 1 to 30, 2020. In Manila, all flights will depart from and arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. Cebu Pacific is building up its domestic flight network, depending on market demand, quarantine restrictions, and government regulations.

Leisure travel is still not allowed, as per government guidelines. Passengers must check guidelines from the IATF and with the local governments of their origin and destination for the required documents.

Contactless flights

Cebu Pacific had been rolling out guidelines for safe, contactless flights for passengers to know what to expect before their trips. Contactless flight guidelines include wearing face masks, doing online check-in, being at the airport at least 3 hours before flight schedule, doing counter closure an hour before a flight, having a maximum of one hand-carry per person, observing contactless boarding procedures, and observing physical distancing.

The company has also increased its safety measures, including extensive daily disinfection of aircraft, cleaning of airport passenger surfaces such as shuttle buses and bag drop counters, front-liners’ use of personal protective equipment, and rapid testing for cabin crew and pilots.

Flexible options

Cebu Pacific continues to offer flexible options for passengers affected by the flight cancellations from June 1 to 30, 2020. They may rebook their flight for travel within 3 months, place the full cost of the ticket in a Travel Fund valid for one year, or avail of a full refund. They may also use the ‘manage Booking’ portal in the Cebu Pacific website to avail of any of the options.

This is a developing situation and Cebu Pacific’s restart of operations may change as quarantine conditions condition evolve across the network. Flights may be reduced depending on passenger demand and travel restrictions.
