Cebu Pacific transports 16.5 million Covid vaccine doses to PH in 6 months

Cebu Pacific has flown home about 16.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine from March to the middle of September. The six-month figure is on top of more than 10.5 million doses the carrier transported nationwide.

Aside from being among the first local airlines to transport vaccines to the country and carry those nationwide, the company is also the only airline to date that transports vaccines as hand-carry. This allows smaller shipments that are carried safely and distributed faster to key local cities like Cagayan de Oro, Dumaguete, Cebu, Puerto Princesa, and General Santos City.

“We know how integral these vaccines are in safeguarding the health of Filipinos during the pandemic,” said Cebu Pacific Chief Strategy Officer Alex Reyes. “That is why we are honored to assist the government in ensuring the safe delivery of these life-saving vaccines, and we look forward to carrying more across our widest domestic network.”

Cebu Pacific has a commitment to remain a key partner in nation-building efforts. Early in 2021, it has joined Ingat Angat as an official airline partner in its aim to help jumpstart the national economy.

The company also upholds its own employee vaccination program through the Gokongwei Group’s Covid Protect. Cebu Pacific has so far vaccinated about 95% of its flying crew and is on track to completing its employee inoculation initiative by October 2021.

As of August 2021, the Philippines has administered around 31,433,450 Covid vaccines—a number that could inoculate about 15% of the country’s eligible population.
