Coca-Cola Philippines is bringing to the country the phenomenal TV show that is taking various countries across Asia by storm. The giant beverage company has launched Coke Studio Philippines through a grand event held on July 29, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Take it as one of the popular brand’s impressive efforts to continuously support Filipino music artists. Coke Studio PH currently airs on TV5 every Saturday, 7 p.m. Hosted by Eraserheads members Raymund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, the show aims to give its viewers a front-seat view to an interesting concept revolving around today’s most well-loved music acts in the country.
“We gathered 14 different artists and groups and paired them into two’s,” said Marasigan. “They would collaborate. May palitan wherein they are going to do a cover of each other’s songs and the collaborate on one song.”
The following Original Pilipino Music (OPM) legends and upcoming acts will be featured in the show’s maiden season: Noel Cabangon, Moonstar88, Ebe Dancel, Abra, Sandwich, Gracenote, Franco, Autotelic, Reese Lansangan, Curtismith, Jensen and the Flips, BP Valenzuela, The Ranson Collective, Gabby Alipe and John Dinopol of Urbandub.
Coke Studio aims to bare the performers’ soul in their performance. It is also celebrates the rich diversity of local music and at the same time highlight the central and unifying role of music among modern Filipinos. “This is the first time we’re working with them in one studio,” said Zabala. “We don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s either they will come up with really good music..” Zabala admitted before Marasigan interrupted in jest, “Or we’ll get fired! We’ll gonna get a lot of weird things and we’re excited about those.”
Coke Studio is at the same time bringing the unique experience to more people. The interactive Coke Studio truck, which was the centerpiece during the grand launch, is set to roam across the country to provide rising university bands the opportunity to jam with popular artists.
Coke Studio will also be present in some of the biggest festivals and fiestas nationwide through its Coke Canreaoke—a booth loaded with your favorite OPM hits that are waiting to be sung by just about anyone who likes to showcase his/her singing talent.
