Alias Grace


The Canadian-American miniseries is based on an award-winning novel by book author Margaret Atwood with the same title (published in 1996). The story is set in the 19th century and centers on the dilemma of a psychiatrist who is weighing the pros and cons of pardoning a young murderess on grounds of possible insanity. Grace Marks is a poor Irish immigrant who works as domestic servant in Canada and who eventually gets convicted after being accused of killing her employer and his housekeeper in 1843.

 

Mea Culpa


Try something new on Netflix. This time, enjoy a stand-up comedy special based on an acclaimed Mexican comic material. ‘Mea culpa’ is a Latin phrase for an acknowledgment of one’s error or fault. The raw and outspoken comedian named Alexis de Anda exposes her humorous insights and experiences about sex, gynecologists, drugs, exercise, and weddings, among others.

 

DeRay Davis: How to Act Black


Here is another standup comedy material to keep you up all night. Dynamic comedian DeRay Davis talks about living, dating, and dealing with show business as a black man. You’ll surely agree that he is just hilarious.

 

Greenleaf (Season 2)


The Greenleaf family runs Calvary Fellowship Ministries, a sprawling megachurch based in Memphis. At first glance, the family seems to be a caring and loving clan. But wait until you get to know them more. Scandalous secrets and shocking lies will change the way you look at them. Sibling rivalry, greed, and adultery are some of the intriguing issues hounding the Greenleafs. The new TV series debuted in the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2016 and has been picked up by Netflix. Its second season promises to be as explosive as the first. And yes, Oprah Winfrey is involved in the show as an executive producer and supporting actress.

 

Lady Dynamite (Season 2)


Comedian Maria Bamford stars in a series that is inspired by her own life. The story is about a funny woman who loses it and eventually finds herself. The show was developed in collaboration with Pam Brady and Mitch Hurwitz, both from Arrested Development.
