The Titos and Titas of Manila surely can share numerous stories about Nips, the colorful candy-coated chocolates that comprise their childhood memories. Millennials can relate as well as the brand is also among their favorites whenever they are craving for sweets and chocolates.
How well do you know Jack ‘n Jill Nips? Here are five facts you should know about the brand.
- The brand has an annual music video making contest.
Since 2015, Jack ‘n Jill Nips has been rolling out an annual music video contest—the Nips Pop Fest. On its first year, the pop fest encouraged its fans to create their own music video rendition of the brand’s classic jingle. In 2016, Nips Pop Fest did a radio mash up contest in partnership with Magic 89.9.
In 2017, Nips Pop Fest asked its fans to create music videos using the brand’s newest jingle, which was launched the previous year. Nips Pop Fest culminated with a grand event recently held at the Activity Center of Market! Market! In Taguig City. The contest gathered 111 entries from across the country.

“Nips Pop Fest is our way of encouraging our youth to bring out their playful and creative side,” said Jack ‘n Jill Group Product Manager for Chocolates Nerish Enumerable. “Hopefully, we can introduce a different approach for the next Pop Fest.”
The grand winner of Nips Pop Fest, bagging a P100,000 grand prize and gift packs, is a music video entitled ‘Share the Colorful World of Nips!’
2. Nips keep on exciting consumers by launching new variants.
After successfully rolling out its Color Series in early 2017, Jack ‘n Jill Nips introduced two limited-edition variants in time for the recent holiday season—Berries ‘n Cream and Chocomint.
Aside from the classic candy-coated chocolate buttons that we have grew up with, Jack ‘n Jill Nips also comes in chocolate bars that come in three variants—dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate bars. Also not to be missed are Nips Peanuts.
3. Nips candy-coated chocolates come in five colors.
Currently, Jack ‘n Jill comes in five colors—red, yellow, purple, orange, and blue. “Interestingly, when consumers talk about Nips, they talk about colors,” said Enumerable.
As mentioned, the brand introduced Color Series in early 2017, which lasted several months. Through Color Series, Nips came up with new packaging scheme—each pack contains a single color of Nips. One of the goals was to find out which among the current colors are the most popular among consumers. Enumerable revealed that their consumers equally loved all five colors.
And if you are wondering why there is no green Nips coated chocolates for now, Enumerable cited technical production issues.
4. Nips comes in various packs to cater to various consumers.
Nips always comes in handy. It has Nips Mini, the 1-peso packs that are so far the smallest packaging the brand has in the market. Then, there are the Nips regular pack (the classic size we are most familiar of), Nips snack pack, and Nips Porta pack, which comes in special containers. Nips Peanuts comes in Deluxe size for those who could not get enough of the regular Nips Peanuts packs.
5. Nips is also making it big in Malaysia.
Nips is a home-grown brand that is starting to expand and take presence in other countries in the Southeast Asian region. Currently, aside from the Philippines, Nips is also an important Jack ‘n Jill brand in Malaysia.
“It is one of our strongest brands in Malaysia,” said Enumerable. “However, they have different variants of Nips there as their consumers have different preferences and tastes.”
