GCash now allows you to skip the usually long line when buying ride tickets at the MRT or bus stations. The country’s No. 1 mobile wallet has added beep on its GLife feature, facilitating an instant and virtual way to buy single-journey QR codes so you can quickly get on the train or bus.
Commuters can now conveniently and instantly avail of the beep QR code with just a few clicks through the GCash mobile app. This means you can do the transaction anytime, anywhere. Simply go to the GLife feature, tap ‘Explore categories’ then ‘Transportation’ and select ‘beep’ as the payment option. From there, you would be directed to fill out the details—your route or destination—and you’re good to go!
Through this new service, you may not need to have cash on hand and be able to skip the long queues at the ticket booth. This matters a lot these days as it can be an effective way to make your daily journey using public transport much safer and seamless.
“GCash will continue to create innovative solutions to give Filipinos safe, convenient, and efficient digital services, having them have a better and easier life, especially during these trying times,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon. “More than digital financial services, GCash offers various essential lifestyle services via GLife.”
Long before the pandemic, beep has aggressively partnered with various transport operators and groups to promote cashless rides across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. In October 2019, it was the first to roll out the QR code transport ticketing system in the country (also in partnership with GCash).
“Through our partnership with GCash, passengers will now have an efficient and cashless way of paying that will make commuting a more pleasant experience for them,” said Sharon G. Fong, Chief Commercial Officer of AF Payments Inc., the firm behind beep cards. “beep will continue to actively roll out mobile QR acceptance in various transport networks and more partner-operators in the coming months.”
Meanwhile, GLife continues to expand its capabilities to include more services for modern consumers. Through this GCash feature, app users can shop from various grocery stores, restaurants, gadget and beauty brands, and more.
