The country’s leading mobile wallet and the leader in transportation and deliveries are finally teaming up to offer greater convenience to Filipino consumers. GCash and Grab Philippines have jointly announced their much-awaited landmark partnership that will make paying for daily ride and food delivery transactions easier, faster, and hassle-free.
The deal will add GCash as a direct payment method available to users of the Grab super app. In the process, Grab users can enjoy the easiest, most convenient, and most secure cashless transactions.
“We are excited to work with Grab to ensure that GCash is available across various touch points to all our users in their daily lives, including transportation and food delivery,” said Ren-Ren Reyes, Chief Commercial Officer of GCash and Chief Executive Officer of G-Xchange, Inc., a finance subsidiary of Globe.
During the formal announcement held on January 26 at Seda Hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Reyes declared that beginning in February, Grab users can pay for Grab services/transactions directly via GCash. To enjoy the convenience, a Grab user should first link his/her account to his/her GCash wallet.
GCash as payment option in Grab
Upon partnership implementation, Grab users can easily choose GCash as a payment cashless method for GrabCar, GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabExpress, and other Grab applicable Grab services. Moreover, the GCash-Grab team-up will also enable users to avoid incurring the usual transfer fees, which can be as high as ₱50.
In a statement, GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon said, “With this partnership, we once again realize our commitment to make the lives of Filipinos better each day by delivering a more convenient, secure, and cost-efficient way to pay for their rides and food and grocery deliveries. We look forward to this partnership and we will continuously innovate and build more partnerships that will improve the lives of the Filipinos.”
Grab customers can also avail of GCash exclusive deals and get special treats as a reward when they pay for their transactions using the No. 1 e-wallet.
Digital inclusion agenda
“With GCash as a key cashless payment partner on Grab, we will be able to make it easier and more convenient for more Filipinos to access our suite of safe and reliable services and at the same time mitigate the risks of [possible] fraud from cashless payments. Through this, we could also further push forward our role in the government’s digital inclusion agenda,” said GrabFin Philippines President Martha Elaine Borja.
“Grab Philippines is dedicated to empowering our stakeholders in a digital-first economy, and key to this is driving a deeper and wider cashless adoption in the country,” said Grab Philippines Country Head Grace Vera Cruz. “With more Filipinos transacting via cashless means, we are accelerating our prospects of digital transformation. We look forward to collaborating with like-minded partners such as GCash on this agenda, and we are optimistic that through this partnership, we can improve the lives and livelihoods of many of our kababayans, while building a cashless, digital-first economy for all Filipinos.”
Prior to this partnership, GCash and Grab have already established a strategic collaboration, which allows users to transfer money from their GCash wallet to their GrabPay wallet, and vice-versa.
