After almost 42 years of operations, the iconic Mister Donut Greenhills outlet is closing its doors for good. As announced in the previous week, Mister Donut‘s iconic Greenhills store will operate only until the store closing hour (that’s 9 p.m.) of January 31, 2024 (Wednesday).
The dine-in joint, along with other stores in the building, will shut down to give way to a redevelopment of the structure by its owner, Ortigas Malls. Apparently, Greenhills Shopping Center has been undergoing redevelopment in gradual phases for several years now. Mister Donut hopes it can find a temporary relocation site still within the area so it can still serve its loyal customers, though there is no word yet from Ortigas Malls if there is any space available (as of this writing).
The store closure is not abrupt, though. In a brief interview with Tech and Lifestyle Journal, Mister Donut Philippines Marketing and Key Accounts Director Meggie Jose disclosed that they have been receiving notices from the mall operator about plans to redevelop the building “for about two years now.”
When the store closes by the end of day on January 31, the management will immediately move to totally vacate the site. In fact, the Mister Donut branch will shut down at exactly 9 p.m. (no more extension) as they are given just an hour to clean up.
Mister Donut dine-in outlet
Mister Donut Greenhills, which once served as the brand’s country headquarters, is unique because it pioneered the dine-in restaurant concept among all Mister Donut locations in the Philippines. Aside from of course, your favorite doughnuts, Mister Donut Greenhills serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all else in between—rice meals, pasta, chicken, sandwiches, and beverages like soda, coffee, juice, milk tea, and its signature iced tea. It even offers combo meals for those who like to mix and match. The Greenhills store was also the first in the country to serve Pon De Rings donut (which still is a favorite of many in the store) in 2013.
“When the store closes, customers who love the meals can still enjoy the menu at Mister Donut dine-in branches located at SM Megamall, SM City Bicutan, Trinoma, and Farmers Plaza, though the menu in this store is limited,” said Jose. For the classic donuts and baked goodies, customers can drop by any of 4,000 stores, kiosks, and coffee counters plus select convenience stores and gasoline nooks that sell the quick-fix donuts nationwide.
The 10 members of the store’s current team will be reappointed to other locations. Some of them will be part of the newest Mister Donut store that will open in February at One Ayala (yes, it will also be a dine-in location though with a smaller land area).
Gratitude to loyal customers
“We are thankful to all our loyal customers through the years,” said Jose. “We are closing this store with the hope that we could still see each other. Meanwhile, you can still enjoy our dine-in menu at our other locations.” She also said the management has expressed interest in taking the same spot if it will still be available when the redeveloped building opens in the next couple of years.
Since 1982, Mister Donut Greenhills has enjoyed that strategic spot, located at the corner of Shoppesville Arcade, facing Ortigas Avenue in San Juan City. For some time, it also served as a 24-hour café, becoming a favorite go-to place for many celebrities, politicians, students, call-center agents, employees, and retail store staff in Greenhills—practically people from all walks of life.
Mister Donut Greenhills is taking a graceful exit. Enjoy the last several hours of this iconic dine-in food joint. The store will open at 7 a.m. on January 31 and will close (for good) at 9 p.m. Check out this TikTok video:
