5 ways to participate in Power Mac Center’s Pixelworx: Cinemansanas 2017

Power Mac Center is bringing back Pixelworx: Cinemansanas as part of its advocacy to celebrate ideas, technology, and art. Now on its sophomore year, this major activity is still targeting the country’s emerging and promising new filmmakers, who are striving to break the art scene’s standards and get the exposure they need to unbox more opportunities.

“For Pixelworx: Cinemansanas, our goal is to discover emerging filmmakers who can showcase originality, imagination, and the ability to engage audiences with masterpieces shared via social media,” said Power Mac Center Marketing Director Joey Alvarez. “We are challenging them to be brave, bold, and brilliant in sharing their voice.”

Pixelworx: Cinemansanas has gotten bigger and more exciting. This jam-packed edition is rolling out five major activities, four of which are open to aspiring and emerging filmmakers, and the other one catering to just about anyone who has the passion to act.

1. Masterclass sessions

For Pixelworx: Cinemansanas 2017, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Brillante Mendoza will be at the helm of a series of Masterclass sessions. Power Mac Center will select 23 aspiring filmmakers to join the exclusive three-day workshop that will tackle acting, directing, and cinematography techniques under the award-winning director. Those who want to participate in this extensive learning activity can submit an application to any Power Mac Center nationwide until July 30, 2017.

2. Digital short film competition

Pixelworx: Cinemansanas is bringing back ‘Do You Have a Minute Film Competition,’ which is open for digital short film entries about any subject. Each short film must not exceed 60 seconds in duration and must be entirely shot and edited using Apple devices only. Submissions must be in by August 25, 2017.

3. Post-production workshops

Certified trainers will provide assistance to all the makers of the short film entries through Post-Production workshops that will focus on Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X.

4. Film scholarship grants

Power Mac Center has also granted scholarship to 15 aspiring filmmakers from across the country who can now get into Rebelde Film Camp. The five-day jamboree is exclusive to selected participants who would spend time in a secluded place, where they will be lectured and guided by some iconic Filipino filmmakers like Ricky Lee, Kidlat Tahimik, and Lee Briones-Meily.

5. In-store activity

For non-filmmakers, the doors of Cinemansanas are open through a unique in-store activity. Anyone can drop by any Power Mac Center location to take an on-the-spot acting challenge. Participants can use famous movie lines while showcasing their acting skills. Each day, a Best Actor will be chosen. He/She instantly wins two free movie tickets.
