Get a discount on your next iPhone purchase by donating old devices

Power Mac Center is offering its customers an opportunity to help public school children own devices they can use for online schooling. The premier Apple distributor is teaming up with a national foundation for its UpTrade to Uplift program.

This donation drive is asking customers to donate their old (and still functional, with no screen damage and with working speakers) MacBook, smartphone, or tablet of any brand (with necessary accessories like chargers and charging cables) to the program. All devices to be gathered will then be donated to deserving public schools through the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation—an organization known for providing boats to students in far-flung rural areas who had to swim just to get to school every day.

In return, Power Mac Center is offering huge discounts to donors. The discount value may depend on the iPhone model that they plan to purchase. Here are the corresponding discount assignments:

UpTrade to Uplift

“Power Mac Center is one with the education sector in upholding the need for education even in the face of Covid-19,” said Power Mac Center Director of Product Management, Marketing, and Space Planning Joey Alvarez. “We hope that through our UpTrade to Uplift program, the Filipino bayanihan spirit flourishes, helping us recover and move forward from this crisis. We invite everyone to lend a hand by donating their old devices, and together, we can elevate the lives of students in need.”

So far, there are 21.7 million students nationwide who have enrolled for the upcoming school year, based on data from the Department of Education. It is estimated that only about 500,000 electronic devices are currently available for lending to public school teachers and students. This is a real challenge to the education sector.

The Yellow Boat of Hope

To help address this challenge, the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation has started giving away school supplies and scholarships to deserving students. The foundation also supports communities through medical and dental missions along with special livelihood programs. As of August 2020, it has distributed 4,900 school boats and Adopt-a-Fisherman boats to more than 200 communities across the archipelago.

“The Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation was founded to improve children’s access to education in any way,” said the foundation’s co-founder Jay Jaboneta. “In the face of a new obstacle in Covid-19, we are focused on giving them the technology needed to continue learning. Paddles up to Power Mac Center for its assistance in connecting us with good Samaritans. Hope sails, indeed.”

Device donations are accepted at all Power Mac Center stores until Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Only one donation is eligible for a discount, which cannot be used to purchase other products or cannot be converted into cash, loyalty points, or services. The discount offer is valid on the day of the donation only. For more info, click this link.
