Pru Life UK gives away free Covid-19 insurance coverage via its Pulse app

Pru Life UK is giving away free Covid-19 protection and personal accident (PA) insurance coverage to Filipinos aged 18 to 64 years! The giant life insurer is making this offer available through its health and wellness app, Pulse, which can be downloaded at the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. There is no requirement to purchase any insurance product to qualify for this free insurance coverage.

However, the program will offer free accident and death benefits only to the first 500,000 registrants, starting April 11, 2020. The one-time insurance will only last for 45 days—a crucial period as the spread of the new coronavirus continues. The qualified registrants will only need to register their profiles on the Pulse app, effective from the date of registration.

Those who have been diagnosed positive for Covid-19, those who have symptoms of the disease, those who have been put under a 14-day quarantine, or those who have been living with a Covid-19 positive patient at the time of the registration are NOT eligible for this limited offer. Other exclusions are listed in the terms and conditions.

How to qualify
To register and be qualified for this offer, download the free Pulse app. New app registrants are required to create an account and complete their profiles. Existing Pulse app registrants will receive an in-app notification that will direct them to complete their profiles to register for the free Covid-19 protection. Applicants are also required to complete the profiles of their beneficiaries through the app. Upon completing these requirements and upon successful registration, a confirmation email will be sent to the policyholders and their beneficiaries.

Each of the qualified 500,000 individuals will be entitled to a death benefit or lump sum amounting to P100,000, to be provided to the bereaved family if the policyholder passes away during the period due to accident or as a result of Covid-19 infection (subject to terms and conditions). Meanwhile, eligible health workers are entitled to double the amount—P200,000 as death benefit.

“The alarming spread of Covid-19 has significantly impacted the lives of millions of Filipinos,” said Pru Life UK President and CEO Antonio ‘Jumbing’ de Rosas. “At Pru Life UK, we aim to provide comprehensive and innovative products and services like Pulse to help people prevent and postpone the onset of diseases, as well as to protect them during times of health emergency and financial uncertainty.”

“In line with our ‘WE DO’ spirit, we are stepping up our efforts to support as many Filipinos and their families as possible, particularly our health workers, and provide them peace of mind as they face the challenge of the Covid-19 outbreak,” de Rosas continued.

Other Covid-19 related measures
This complimentary Covid-19 protection and PA coverage is just among the many initiatives of Pru Life UK to help ease the financial burden and emotional stress brought about by the current public health emergency. The company previously announced a 60-day extension to its grace period for premium payments (for all policies nationwide) within the due dates falling between February 16 and June 30, 2020. This is to ensure uninterrupted protection for Pru Life UK customers during the pandemic.

Moreover, Pru Life UK is also offering a P1,000 additional daily hospital benefit to policyowners who are hospitalized due to the new coronavirus. This applies to policyholders whose life policies are in force with the Hospital Income Rider issued on or before January 31, 2020.

“There is an urgent need for more health protection solutions in the country because of Covid-19. As a company that values life, health and security, our message during this pandemic is straightforward and simple—Pru Life UK is here to support you and will continue to be a trusted partner across the different stages of your life journey,” de Rosas ended.
