Heavy rains did not stop fitness buddies from going to the Parade Grounds in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on July 8, 2018. By dawn, thousands of health buffs gathered at the venue for the start of the 11th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run, an annual fitness activity organized by Robinsons Supermarket.
Various types of running pairs participated—parents and kids, grandparents and grandchildren, siblings, officemates, best friends, lovers, and even neighbors. Most of them aimed to top the 5K and 10K races.
“We are happy to provide an opportunity for people to start their wellness journey in a fun and one-of-a-kind event with their partners,” said Robinsons Supermarket General Manager Jody Gadia. “After all, getting fit and choosing the healthier lifestyle is more worthwhile when shared with a buddy.”
The 11th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run 5K race offered a top prize of a trip for two to Siargao with 3 days and 2 nights of paid hotel accommodation, while the second and third placers got P8,000 worth of Robinsons gift certificates.
For the 10K race podium finishers, the top prize winners brought home a trip for two to Hong Kong with 3 days and 2 nights of free hotel accommodation. The second and third placers got P15,000 worth of Robinsons gift certificates.
While the run was ongoing, fitness coaches Jim and Toni Saret kept those participants who stayed in the parade grounds busy by facilitating a series of their 4-minute easy workouts. Their goal was to show how anyone can still get fit without going out by doing some fun workout routines at home, at the most convenient time possible.
Meanwhile, the 11th Fit & Fun Wellness Buddy Run carried on some of the traditions that have made it well known as an annual running event. Participants also enjoyed different activities facilitated in various activity booths put up by the event’s partner brands. Everyone also took home huge grocery loot bags that contained freebies from Nestlé, Johnson & Johnson, Wyeth Nutrition, Abbott Nutrition, Fonterra, and Unilab.
This fun run is in line with Robinsons Supermarket’s wellness commitment to continuously encourage more people to choose and live healthier lifestyles.
