Samsung has unveiled in the Philippines its newest series of flagship devices—the Galaxy S20. The arrival of the much-awaited line (comprising of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and Galaxy S20 Ultra) was marked through a grand media launch held on February 18 at the Grand Hyatt Manila in BGC, Taguig City.
The official announcement was graced by the brand ambassadors of the ‘devices of the decade’—renowned fashion photographer BJ Pascual and same-day video edit king Jason Magbanua. Both icons revealed how the new smartphone line helps them find a better way of capturing photos and shooting videos.
Changing how you see the world
Pascual has photographed many of the most beautiful faces in the county and has lorded numerous covers of fashion magazines locally and internationally. The highly in-demand photographer is all raves about the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which he considers a worthy companion.
This does not surprise as the device has Ultra-Resolution Quad Camera, with 108MP wide-angle, 48MP Telephoto, 12MP Ultra-Wide, and Depth Vision lenses. The super-high resolution camera (108MP for the S20 Ultra and 64MP for the S20 and S20+) brings details in stunning clarity like no other mobile device can do.
“Even I am surprised at the level of clarity that my smartphone’s camera provides,” Pascual said. “I have compared photos taken using the 108MP lens and my professional gear, and the ones shot with my smartphone can match with the best of them.”
He also noted the other amazing features of the new device: the Space Zoom that allows honing in on subjects for up to 100 times; the Bright Night that enables shooting even in low light conditions without compromising color accuracy and sharpness of his photos.
Movie-grade video creation
As an in-demand videographer, Magbanua is easily impressed with the video features of the Galaxy S20 Ultra. “I have added the Galaxy S20 Ultra to my gear set because of its 8K capabilities,” he said. “What I like about using the smartphone is that it’s light yet capable of capturing the best moments of a wedding in ultra-high resolution.”
Magbanua is one of the most cited when it comes to visual storytelling. He is known for producing wedding videos that can also double as feature films in as fast as just a day. For him, the revolutionized mobile videography in the Galaxy S20 Ultra with the 8K Video resolution is an advantage. This, each footage is clear and sharp when viewed even at the size of a typical cinema screen.
Another helpful feature for Magbanua is the 8K Video Snap that enables him to grab photos from recorded video footage. Every screenshot keeps the crisp resolution, a capability that he uses to tap picturesque moments in videos.
The Galaxy S20 series is equipped with a powerful RAM and an enhanced processor, facilitating a lag-free experience. The combination allows both Pascual and Magbanua to multitask in their respective fields. Moreover, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is furnished with a 5,000 mAh battery, making the device perform longer on a single full charge.
The Galaxy S20 has an SRP of P49,990; the Galaxy S20+ has a tag price of P55,990, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra costs P69,990. All three devices are now available in authorized Samsung stores and resellers nationwide.
