Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is offering another solution for public school children and teachers who can’t afford the usually costly online learning devices. In partnership with various partner stores and distributors nationwide, the giant telco firm has been organizing a series of Back-to-School Gadget Sale, where smartphones, laptops, and tablets are sold at significantly marked down price tags.
To ensure the usefulness of the devices for home-based online learning sessions, Smart is also bundling the devices with Smart Bro LTE Pocket WiFi and other freebies sold during the gadget sale.
“We want to be able to offer affordable device bundles to help them cope with the demands of online learning in the new normal,” said PLDT and Smart SVP and Head of Consumer Sales and Distribution Alex O. Caeg. “This is also part of Smart’s efforts to make 4G phones and gadgets more accessible to students, their teachers, and their parents as well. With this, our subscribers get to enjoy the superior customer experience associated with Smart’s fastest LTE network in the country.”
Mylene dela Peña, a 35-year-old sari-sari store owner and mom of three is among the parents who are raving about the gadget sale. Through the first Back-to-School Gadget Sale organized by Smart in August, she was able to buy a smartphone—a device her children can use for online learning—at a discounted rate.
“Even though the students have modules, we still need connectivity when we talk to teachers through messaging apps,” dela Peña said. “We need to invest in their online learning.”
Jay Quirante, a senior high school teacher in Quezon City, was also among those who took advantage of good deals during the sale. Quirante is sure this promo could help more students and teachers. “There were big discounts and freebies,” he said. “I thank Smart for supporting the education of students through these gadget promos and programs.”
