Taiwan Excellence has formally launched its mobile classroom project that aims to help provide quality education to Filipinos who belong to the marginalized sector especially those in the countryside.
‘Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom’ is an innovative concept by SEED4Com (Sustainable Energy and Enterprise Development for Communities) that bagged the grand prize in the ‘Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring’ competition by the Taiwanese government. The original concept with a bicycle and sidecar with minimal amenities has been modified to use a four-wheeled trailer instead.
The Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom is equipped with Taiwan Excellence products—from brands like United Renewable Energy, GIGA-BYTE Technology, ASUSTeK Computer, ACER, Dacian Technology Material, Team Group Inc, and IPEVO Inc—including display monitors and laptops for teachers and learners. There are speaker systems with microphones, foldable chairs, tables, and tents that aid the transformation into an instant classroom. The mobile learning facility also has solar panels with a full inverter system and battery storage (2kWh capacity) to make it fully sustainable.
The Department of Education (DepEd) is providing DepEd-developed Alternative Learning System (ALS) learning modules for the mobile classroom’s Cebu and Quezon province rollouts. Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom will teach practical subjects like Integrated Math, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Citizenship.
“With all the efforts of all devoted parties, the Taiwan Excellence Mobile Classroom project will offer greater educational opportunities for learners of all ages in the Philippines,” said Cynthia Kiang, Director-General of Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) during the launch event held at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel on November 9, 2022.
“Today’s event is a start to connect with respective communities a start to unite bilateral goodwill for those in need and a start to trigger more parties to go for global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals,” she added.
Through Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines, the Taiwanese government has expressed gladness that the philanthropic idea has generated support from various parties.
“I believe that this is an initiative [sic] and there will be more empowerment programs from bilateral agencies and enterprises. Our friendship and relationship will for sure be enhanced and strengthened,” he said.

Organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the vision of ‘Taiwan Excellence: Sharing is Caring’ is to help make society a better place by giving everyone an opportunity to raise ideas about charity and other altruistic activities related to the sustainable development of society and environmental protection by utilizing products of Taiwan Excellence.
Taiwan Excellence is a branding mark representing Taiwan’s ingenuity in product and technological innovation. It aims to further promote Taiwan brands and products globally.
