There’s a new fried chicken in town and it’s the latest addition to the current menu of Tokyo Tokyo. The Japanese dine-in restaurant chain is leveling up Filipinos’ favorite comfort food by making it crispier and more flavorful.
Tokyo Tokyo’s Umami Fried Chicken has that distinct ‘umami’ taste—combining rich flavor with juiciness on the inside and crispiness on the outside to bring that familiar favorite with a unique twist. It is paired with shitake mushroom gravy, coming with real mushroom bits for a more flavorful gastronomic experience.
“Tokyo Tokyo has gone to different places in Japan to pick inspiration on the flavors of the new Umami Fried Chicken,” Tokyo Tokyo Marketing Head Genaline Austero. “We are inherently a Japanese restaurant and we know fried chicken is not really Japanese but we have made sure the same umami taste will still be distinct to align it with our menu.”
Umami Fried Chicken is marinated the Japanese way—using three key ingredients (pepper, garlic, and ginger) that are strategically combined to exude that natural umami flavor that brings a unique character to this new menu entry.
“We aimed to introduce something very familiar to the Filipinos when they get into Tokyo Tokyo. We made sure Umami Fried Chicken keeps the Japanese twist that is true to our DNA as a Japanese restaurant,” Austero added.
Umami Fried Chicken is a significant addition to the flavorful chicken lineup in the growing Tokyo Tokyo menu. The restaurant currently offers Chicken Karaage, Chicken Teriyaki, and Tokyo Wings. Umami Fried Chicken can be ordered in Solo Plates, Bento Meals, and Platters.
Tokyo Tokyo’s Umami Fried Chicken is initially available in all its branches and trailers across Luzon. It will eventually be available in Visayas and Mindanao.
