YouTube wants local video creators to turbocharge their careers via NextUp

Since the launch of YouTube’s NextUp contest internationally in 2011, the program has helped more than 500 video creators in over 13 countries take their YouTube channels to the next level. The video-sharing site does this by providing NextUp participants with the right skills, mentorship, and network for creating more compelling content.

This year, YouTube NextUp is inviting creative and inspiring YouTube creators to give it a shot for a week-long creator camp at the upcoming YouTube Pop-up Space Manila 2018, happening from September 7 to September 12. Through this program, participants will learn more techniques straight from NextUp alumni and even work closely with the current top YouTube creators.

Are you up for this call? YouTube is looking for passionate and motivated YouTube creators who are ready to create more powerful stories with better production skills; those who are seeking mentorship from production and channel development experts; and eager participants looking for an opportunity to collaborate with other talented creators. You could be part of the global NextUp community.

To be eligible for this year’s NextUp Manila, you must have a YouTube channel with about 10,000 to 100,000 subscribers at the moment. YouTube will also select qualified channels on the basis of their potential improvement, capacity for attracting audiences, and alignment with YouTube’s core values. To enter the contest and learn more about the details, check out youtube.com/nextup. Deadline for submitting applications is on August 3, 2018.

YouTube NextUp 2017 participants

The launch of NextUp in the Philippines could further bolster opportunities for a growing community of YouTube creators in the country. In 2017, there was a 50% growth in hours of content uploaded to YouTube Philippines. Moreover, Gold Creator Award for local YouTube channels almost doubled, with more than 15 Gold Creator Award channels in 2018.

“We’re bringing NextUp to the Philippines to support Filipino creators, who are among the most creative and inspiring in the world,” said Google Philippines Country Marketing Manager Gabby Roxas. “We want to help them bring their YouTube careers to the next level by exposing them to meaningful learning experiences. We are also giving Filipino creators the opportunity to inspire and learn from other creators around the world who share their passion for creating great online content.”

Participants of NextUp Manila’s class of 2018 would receive the following:
• Ongoing strategic account management by the YouTube Creator ad Artist Development Team.
• One-week Creator Camp at YouTube Pop-Up Space
• $1,000 USD production voucher
• Mentorship by Alumni and Top Creators
