The ability to keep a healthy cash flow is most important among Filipino freelancers especially during the new normal when physical distancing and quarantine restrictions are implemented. Fortunately, fintech companies come together to offer efficient financial tools and services to benefit the country’s continuously booming gig economy.
One of the best developments in 2020 that benefit freelancers was the partnership between cross-border digital payment platform Payoneer and the country’s most widely used mobile wallet GCash. Since September 30, 2020, Payoneer users have been provided the capability to transfer funds from their accounts directly to their GCash wallets in real-time.
“We share this tremendous commitment to freelancers and entrepreneurs in the Philippines who are eager to grow their businesses, and we’ve now brought Payoneer and GCash together to bring the most unique and powerful solution for you to manage your business and your money,” said Payoneer CEO Scott Galit.
The Payoneer-GCash partnership has brought a secure and effective process of receiving funds. The process has also been made simple and fast so that users can easily allocate money for bills payment, grocery shopping, and even leisure spending.
“In this pandemic where people have been forced to stay indoors and accelerate the adoption of a digital lifestyle, GCash has been a lifeline to Filipinos,” said GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon. “Now, we’re glad to have partnered with Payoneer whose mission of empowering businesses to go beyond is aligned with ours in making the financial sector more inclusive. With this brand new partnership, Payoneer users can now receive payments in 150 currencies in their GCash app. We made it simple, so entrepreneurs can enjoy their life’s work.”
To enjoy this real-time service, simply link your Payoneer and GCash accounts. To do so, log in to your GCash wallet and proceed to ‘My Linked Accounts.’ Select Payoneer and click ‘Link Account.’ Log in to your Payoneer account within the GCash app and enter your One-Time-Pin (as required). This is applicable to verified GCash accounts.
*Creating GCash and Payoneer accounts (if you still don’t have those) are both free.
