More than 75,000 vacant jobs will be featured at the upcoming Virtual Career Fair set from June 13 to 17, 2022. The weeklong online job fair is being organized by JobStreet Philippines in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). (Update: Online Job Booths are extended until June 30, 2022.)
The upcoming Virtual Career Fair will coincide with the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day this year. It is aimed at empowering local job hunters and promoting freedom that they seek when choosing a career path that aligns with their lifestyle and priorities in the new normal.
“In this career fair, we want to highlight different employment types available for our candidates as they are rethinking their approach to the concept of work,” said JobStreet Philippines Country Manager Philip Gioca. “We thank DTI for trusting us to be their partner in this initiative, to provide jobs that are aligned with the applicants’ values and preferences.”
The job vacancies to be featured consist of remote, provincial, and entry-level posts from over a hundred employers—including major companies like ePLDT, BDO Unibank, SM Retail, JPMorgan Chase Bank, ABS-CBN, BMI, Wilcon Depot, and Accenture, among others.
The popularity of remote jobs
Interestingly, work-from-home jobs are among the most sought-after these days as jobseekers seek empowerment in their choices. For JobStreet, this trend is also an affirmation of ‘The Great Reshuffle,’ which it defines as a phase wherein employees tend to leave their jobs to search for opportunities that will be more fulfilling and will offer more flexibility.
The online careers portal cites findings of its 2021 Global Talent Survey, wherein 67% of Filipino employees said they choose to prioritize health and well-being over their jobs. Moreover, 53% of local employees said they prefer keeping a remote work setup even if it comes with additional 10 hours of extra work hours per week, while 41% said they would accept even a lower-salary position as long as they can move to a more affordable location.
“Employees have many things to consider whether a job is worth it or not,” said JobStreet Philippines Marketing head Kim Viray. “Jobseekers are now taking their time to reassess not only their careers but their personal life. That is why as a career partner, we aim to provide a venue where applicants can have the liberty to decide on which role they wish to pursue.”
