Sitel Philippines is officially a ‘blood donation hero.’ The global business process outsourcing giant has received an Apolinario Mabini Dugong Bayani Award conferred to it by the Department of Health (DOH) and the government agency’s blood bank, the Philippine Blood Center (PBC).
The award was in recognition of the company’s recent mobile blood-letting program that collected blood donations from more than 200 volunteers. Sitel turned over the blood collection to PBC, which has been actively working with many private organizations to ensure its blood bank is always fully stocked.
PBC also makes sure the blood donations it receives are safe and ready for hospital use at all times. The blood bank supplies blood required in transfusions and other medical procedures.
Sitel has been donating blood to PBC since 2015. “The award is a wonderful recognition of our efforts, but it’s not why we join the yearly blood drive,” said Sitel Philippines Human Resource Director Melody Favis. “Our goal is to give back to the community and help whenever we can.”
