Informa Markets in the Philippines is optimistic that this year’s Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines will empower stakeholders from both subsectors to adopt technology and enter new markets, helping fuel economic growth at the regional and national levels. On its opening day on May 22, 2024 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines highlighted the importance of innovation and technology in developing sustainable farms and improving the livestock and aquaculture production in the country.
The opening ceremony was top billed by Rungphech Chitanuwat, the Country General Manager of Informa Markets in the Philippines and was graced by Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino and Undersecretary for Livestock of the Department of Agriculture, Deogracias Victor Savellano, who represented Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr.
“We are optimistic that this year’s Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines will play a pivotal role in unlocking the substantial potential of the Philippine livestock and aquaculture subsectors. Through a comprehensive showcase of exhibits, seminars, and workshops, Informa Markets aims to highlight the most recent advancements, technologies, and market trends at Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines,” said Chitanuwat.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) is hosting this year’s Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines, expressing optimism that the trade show will empower farmers and fisherfolk by providing them with insights into the latest technological advancements and market trends within their respective subsectors.
Knowledge from industry leaders
Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines present thoughtfully crafted seminar and conference programs tailored to offer valuable insights to participants, particularly those involved in farm operations, aiming to deepen their knowledge of the livestock and aquaculture industries. Some of the topics presented courtesy of select association partners and events exhibitors include livestock farming, swine production, alternative feeds, farm operation, and sustainability to name a few.
Chitanuwat said the conferences and forums scheduled during this year’s Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines demonstrate the strong commitment of Informa Markets and the Department of Agriculture to help level up the two subsectors. “The vast potential of the Philippines’ livestock and aquaculture subsectors can be realized by bringing together stakeholders, technology providers, and people who have access to new markets, among many others, through events like Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines,” she added.
The 1st Biosecurity Asia Forum highlights the relevance of having a well-made biosecurity measure and is anticipated to gather industry practitioners who are keen to learn new approaches in different sectors such as swine, poultry, and aquaculture. Speakers from Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines set the educational tone on the stage.
Growing industry partners
With the help of industry partners, Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines are set to show promising results this year, giving more business opportunities to the exhibitors and learnings to the trade visitors. This year, several associations from both the livestock and aquaculture sectors have recently joined and shown their support and endorsement such as the Philippine Society of Animal Nutritionists, Central Luzon State University, Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center/Aquaculture Department, and PhilTilapia Stakeholders Association, Inc.
The flourishing partnerships between Livestock Philippines and Aquaculture Philippines with the industry groups foster productive collaborations that benefit the community. Notably, the Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative (BEPCO) and the U.S. Soybean Export Council have jointly initiated the official launch of Bidang Egg Kids. This comprehensive project aims to combat protein malnutrition among children in the country.
Furthermore, the Livestock Philippines Recognition returns to acknowledge the contributions of groups, cooperatives, and industry associations that have significantly contributed to the advancement of the livestock and aquaculture sectors in the country. The exhibition hall features educational attractions such as the Eggcellent Corner by the Batangas Egg Producers Cooperative and Sustainability Square spearheaded by Prestige Paper Products and the Central Luzon, the events’ Sustainability Partners.
This year marks the 7th edition of Livestock Philippines, while Aquaculture Philippines is in its 4th edition, aiming to establish itself as an independent event in the next edition.
