Stream love stories with a little bite on Lionsgate Play this Valentine’s

Press Release

It’s the season of love once again, and no, you don’t need grand plans and dinner reservations to have a great time. Whether you’re flying solo, cuddled up with a partner, or having your gal pals over for Valentine’s, these titles streaming on Lionsgate Play deliver romance with a twist and just the right amount of chaos for the season.

Letters to Juliet (2010)

Starring Amanda Seyfried, romantic comedy film Letters to Juliet lets you slowly fall in love with the romance of Venice, Italy. Sophie (Seyfried) travels to Verona on a pre-honeymoon trip with her fiancé, where she discovers the “Secretaries of Juliet,” a group who responds to letters sent to Juliet Capulet. When Sophie comes across an unanswered love letter from the fifties, she responds to the letter’s sender, Claire (Vanessa Redgrave), sparking a journey that reunites Claire with her long-lost love.

While the film’s plot is entirely fictional, the magic is real: Italy’s The Juliet Club exists, with volunteers replying to hopeless romantic letter senders from around the world.

P.S. I Love You (2007)

Don’t believe in love yet? The 2007 film P.S. I Love You demonstrates that love endures, even after death.  Based on the popular novel of the same name, the film follows Holly (Hillary Swank), whose husband Gerry (Gerard Butler), passes away from a brain tumor. On her 30th birthday, she begins receiving letters that Gerry wrote before his death. These letters then serve as guides for Holly, gently helping her manage grief and find the strength to continue living.

Dirty Dancing (1987)

You’ve already know the iconic “lift” dance move, with the equally iconic Bill Medley song, “Time of My Life.” But coming-of-age film Dirty Dancing is more than its final dance scene. Set in the 1960s, Baby (Jennifer Grey) spends her summer vacation at a resort where she meets the resident dance instructor, Johnny (Patrick Swayze). The charismatic instructor introduces her to a whole new rhythm on and off the dance floor, slowly making her fall in love. What starts as dance lessons turns into a coming-of-age romance that still makes hearts race decades later.

Shotgun Wedding (2022)

If you’re in the mood for some thrill and action this heart’s season, the 2022 film Shotgun Wedding turns wedding jitters up a notch. All geared up for a dreamy tropical destination wedding in the Philippines, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) find themselves on the verge of calling off the wedding. Turns out getting cold feet is the least of their problems when a group of pirates crashes the ceremony and takes the entire entourage hostage. With only wedding supplies as their ammo, Darcy and Tom undergo a different type of couples therapy and discover that surviving this chaos is the ultimate relationship test.

Killers (2010)

Imagine discovering–years into marriage–that your dreamy husband was once a skilled assassin. In Killers, Jen (Katherine Heigl) learns that her seemingly perfect spouse Spencer (Ashton Kutcher) has a deadly past and a US$20 million bounty on his head. When their peaceful suburban life erupts into chaos, the couple must fight for survival, all while navigating marriage, trust, and an unexpected pregnancy

This Valentine’s Day, skip the crowded restaurants and spend a cozy night in with your favorite meal and these love stories, now streaming on Lionsgate Play.
