ASUS ROG launches slimmest, yet most powerful gaming laptop Zephyrus

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has so many reasons to celebrate these days. First, it remains as the No. 1 gaming laptop brand in the country after selling 10,080 units from January to June 21 this year. With this strong number, the ROG is poised to double its sales in 2017 compared to actual figures in 2016.

Second, as ASUS Country Manager George Su disclosed, ROG is commanding a 47% gaming PC market share in the country. That makes it a formidable force to beat, reflecting the trust and patronage of the highly discerning PC gamers across the country.

Third, the world’s thinnest, most efficient, and most powerful gaming laptop to date—ROG Zephyrus GX501—was finally launched in the Philippines, the second country where the model has so far been launched after Taiwan.

“The ROG Zephyrus GX501 sets the bar even higher when it comes to compact, powerful, and ultra-slim gaming notebooks available in the country,” said ASUS Philippines Product Manager for ROG Joey Nocom.

Nocom emphasized that the new product is in line with the brand’s commitment to bring ultimate gaming and computing experience to local and global gamers and enthusiasts. “We believe that showcasing innovation through our products will ensure gaming laptop dominance and preference in the future.”

Tech and Lifestyle Journal highlights the impressive features that will fulfill ROG’s promise to shakeup the PC gaming landscape with the entry of its newest beast machine—ROG Zephyrus GX501.

Ultra-slim and sleek body
For a high-powered gaming laptop, the 15.6-inch ROG Zephyrus is very slim and sleek. With a blade-inspired design, this beast of a machine has a depth of 17.9 mm tapering down to 16.9 mm at the slimmest point. This compactness makes it the thinnest gaming laptop powered by 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processor.

Despite this, its CPU and GPU combination allows it to match the performance of larger laptops and desktops from other brands. And with its body weight of just 2.2 kilograms (with battery), users can easily bring it anywhere without any hassle.

An exclusive cooling system
The Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) is unique to ROG Zephyrus. This cooling mechanism runs cooler and significantly quieter sans any impact on the optimal performance. AAS takes advantage of its AeroAccelerator (AA) technology, which bolsters speed and efficiency of needed airflow throughout the laptop.

The 3D-curved surface cover of the fan complements the accelerator guides to enhance airflow and facilitate efficient ventilation to internal components. Once turned on, a portion of the laptop’s chassis flexes to raise the airflow volume by up to 20% and further enhance internal air circulation. Consequently, CPU and GPU are fully utilized to ensure uninterrupted function especially during marathon gaming sessions.

Customizable keyboard backlight
Through ASUS Aura RGB lighting technology, dynamic lighting effects can be set over the entire keyboard. The WASD and QWER key groups can even be highlighted and customized separately to allow users to adopt ambience based on the mood and overall feel of each PC game.

The anti-ghosting feature ensures all commands are instantly and accurately interpreted even when up to 30 keys are simultaneously pressed intentionally or unintentionally. Moreover, the keys are ergonomically designed for comfort and typing accuracy.

Apparently, the keyboard is strategically positioned at the front of the laptop’s chassis to facilitate effective cooling of internal components while at the same time sticking to the comfort and familiarity of gamers who are more accustomed to desktop keyboards. On the other hand, the touchpad is placed at the keyboard’s right side and is integrated with a 10-key function for easier activation by a hot key.

Impressive display
The gaming laptop’s 120Hz display facilitates a smoother gaming experience at a true 120Hz frame rate. ROG Zephyrus is even equipped with an NVIDIA G-SYNC display technology that synchronizes the screen’s refresh rate with the NVIDIA GeForce graphics card’s frame rate. The result—ultrasmooth quality of the visuals.

G-SYNC lowers lag, reduces perceived stutter, and prevents visual tearing for the smooth, fast, and breathtaking gaming, again without posing any adverse impact to the system’s performance. On top of these, wide viewing angles and a full sRGB color gamut give way to outstanding and lifelike colors when viewed from any angle.

Added versatility
ROG Zephyrus’ Windows 10 Creators Update gives way to better performance of games via the Windows Game Mode. This also makes it easier to conduct native game-streaming with Microsoft’s streaming service, Beam.

Lastly, versatile connectivity is guaranteed with the gaming laptop’s USB Type-C (USB-C) port with Thunderbolt 3 that allows G-SYNC and facilitates 4K UHD display output, faster data transferring, and power delivery.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501 can already be pre-ordered at rog-masters.ph. It will be available through distributors across the country in August with tag prices of P179,995 and P148,995 for the GTX1080 and GTX1070 versions, respectively.
