‘Canva for Education’ empowers Filipino teachers amid the new normal

With about 27 million students across the country that are expected to enroll in the upcoming academic year, Filipino teachers need to be trained and equipped in using tools for remote and innovative learning as the national education system gears up for the new normal.

In a recent webinar hosted by Canva in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the value of equipping educators with tools to empower them in the modern classroom was highlighted. Teachers can now have a rich and authentic learning experience tailored to the specific needs of a classroom through Canva Education. This user-friendly and intuitive platform aims to empower not just teachers but also their students in online creation and collaboration through visuals.

Creating engaging classroom content

“Our goal is to help teachers create engaging classroom content, simply,” said Canva Manila Country Manager Yani Hornilla-Donato. “With a plethora of classroom-friendly templates, relevant to specific learning goals, teachers can create eBooks and eBook covers, beautiful presentations for their subjects, class schedules, worksheets, handouts, online test papers and posters. The options are only limited by your imagination.”

Canva for Education also includes an all-new collaboration space, a review workflow access to content from Google Drive, Dropbox, Folders, version history, and SSO Clever and Google.

“We have tailored this product to ensure it meets the needs and requirements of schools worldwide, serving as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for creating and collaborating in the classroom,” Hornilla-Donato added.

The same webinar mentioned previously had also paved the way for Canva and DepEd to launch Facebook Community for Filipino Teachers that serves as a space for professional support and training as teachers learn and adapt to the modalities of virtual and distance teaching.

Canva and DepEd will facilitate another Canva for Education webinar for Filipino teachers on June 15, to be live-streamed on DepEd Tech’s Facebook page.
