Western Union remittance is now available via eCebuana app

You can now receive international remittances coursed through any of Western Union’s locations abroad directly to your micro savings account accessible in the eCebuana app. This new service facilitates convenience in remitting money sent by relatives or clients from other countries without leaving homes.

The new innovative remittance service is part of the existing partnership between Cebuana Lhuillier and global money transfer operator Western Union. It is aimed at further highlighting convenience and efficiency for the micro-financial services provider’s clientele.

“Cebuana Lhuillier has always been committed to providing the best and most convenient option for our clients,” said Cebuana Lhuillier Senior Executive Vice President Philippe Andre Lhuillier. “With this latest development, made possible with the support of Western Union, Cebuana Lhuillier micro-savings account holders will now have the option to receive their remittance directly via their eCebuana app, which can also facilitate the use of the funds for other financial transactions that are available in the app.”

Meanwhile, Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier emphasizes that mobility and accessibility are still part of the company’s digital transformation push. “This is just one of the many innovations that the company is developing, still in line with our commitment of bringing financial inclusion to every Filipino,” he said.

Follow three simple steps to receive remittances through your eCebuana app:

  1. Select receive money service.
  2. Choose Western Union.
  3. Provide the Reference Number or MTCN.

After providing the required information and inputting the OTP sent via SMS, the fund remitted via Western Union will automatically be credited to your micro-savings account.

From there, you can opt to encash at any Cebuana Lhuillier branch or spend the money for various in-app services—like bills payment, load purchases, or direct remittances to other micro savings accounts, any other bank accounts, or any Cebuana Lhuillier branch.

*A feature that would allow eCebuana app users to send money locally or globally through Western Union will be rolled out in early 2022.
