Jollibee Studios is opening a new era of “joyful, inspirational, and truly-Filipino films that will surely touch the heart of every family member, friend, or loved one.” This is why the YouTube channel of original video-on-demand from the No. 1 fastfood chain is marking December 1, 2021 as the start of its aggressive move to release more original, and exclusive content as it re-launches itself.
The new chapter will be ushered in by ‘One True Pair The Movie,’ a 30-minute film headlined by one of the country’s most iconic loveteams—John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. The project is reuniting the tandem after more than half a decade.
The pair’s much-awaited and much-anticipated on-screen reunion definitely brought excitement among long-time fans. The duo first made waves this year when photos from a shoot in BGC leaked online in October. Fans became more excited when it was revealed that it was for a Jollibee project. In fact, the BTS (behind the scene) video has garnered over 44 million views in just a few days.
One True Pair
“One True Pair the Movie tells a heartwarming story about long-lasting love that transcends time, beyond romance,” said Francis E. Flores, Jollibee Foods Corporation Philippines Country/Regional Marketing and Jollibee Philippines Marketing Head. “And what better way to send the message across than by doing a film with one of the most iconic loveteams in the history of Philippine cinema.”
Aside from being the longest Jollibee film to be streamed on Jollibee Studios YouTube Channel, One True Pair The Movie will also embody the unit’s goal to amplify the message of hope, love, and family, especially during this ongoing pandemic.
“We felt that it was time to further elevate our storytelling with this ambitious project as we strive to spread joy with content that will resonate deeply with Filipinos for our first salvo for the re-launch of the Jollibee Studios YouTube Channel,” said Flores.
The movie is directed by one of the country’s multi-awarded directors, JP Habac (I’m Drunk, I Love You in 2017). “I was very happy to take on this Jollibee project about a different kind of love,” he said. “When we talk about love, it’s always about either finding the right person or spending the rest of their lives with them.
But in reality, love is such a complicated emotion with so many facets. People can also love a person with all their heart without being romantically in love with them. We wanted to talk about the powerful truth of loving someone means loving them always.”
Many firsts
Jollibee is also honored to be the first brand to reunite John Lloyd and Bea on screen. They’re also the newest endorsers of the company’s best-selling, best tasting, iconic Jollibee perfect pair—Chickenjoy and Jolly Spaghetti.
Jollibee first captured netizens’ hearts with its famous Kwentong Jollibee short films in 2016, the Laugh Out Love (Petsa de Peligro) stories in 2017, and the One True Pair Series in 2018. In 2021, Jollibee Studios released a Valentine series that tackled life and love in the new normal. From April to May, it released Family Thanksgiving Month videos. In May, it released its first internationally produced video ad.
